Worship

SUNDAY MORNING WORSHIP: 10:30 a.m. The truths of the Christian faith are presented in a practical way through biblical preaching, traditional and contemporary music, offerings, and prayer.

Children's Ministry

Nursery

A supervised nursery is available every Sunday morning during the 10:30 a.m. worship service for infants and toddlers through the age of 34 months. We are committed to your child’s safety and comfort. As you entrust us with the care of your little ones, we intend to do all that we can to respect and honor that trust.

Sunday School - 9:30 a.m.

Children 2 years old through 4th grade are encouraged to attend our Sunday School Classes. Grade levels meet in individual classrooms. Children are invited to study about God with music, experience a Bible Story lesson, and share in discussion on real-life applications of their learning.

Children's Choir

This choir, for grades K-4 practices on Sunday mornings and sings occasionally during Sunday morning worship.

Vacation Bible School (VBS)

Each summer Oak Grove Mennonite offers a Vacation Bible School program which includes Bible storytelling, worship, music, recreation, and snacks. A mission project is chosen for the offerings children are invited to bring. This is a fun-filled, energetic week of Bible learning and activity.

Oak Grove Preschool

A caring, certified staff provides early education and activities to plant a foundation of God’s love. Three and four-year-old children attend Tuesday and Thursday classes and five-year-old children attend Monday, Wednesday, and Friday classes.

Youth Programs

Junior Youth Fellowship

Students grades 5-8 meet for Sunday School each week. Their sponsors encourage spiritual growth and provide additional fellowship, input and service opportunities. They are also invited to participate in monthly activities that include Bible studies, service projects and social events. They are led by adult sponsors who oversee the planning and activities. The Junior Youth are also involved in worship services and church events in a variety of ways.

MYF (Mennonite Youth Fellowship)

The MYF is a high school-aged group promoting Christian growth and fellowship. Students grades 9 through 12 meet on Sunday mornings with Sunday School teachers to introduce students to Christ, experience new life relationships, and expand their knowledge of God. 

During the school year, MYF meets twice a month for activities that include Bible study, service projects, and social events. Every other year they participate in the Mennonite Church USA Youth Convention which meets for a week in a major US city. The other year they usually participate in an out-of-town service project. Throughout the year they do fundraising projects to help pay for the expenses of their trips. Adult sponsors oversee the planning and supervising of the activities. Our youth are also involved in worship services through music, drama, and scripture reading.

One on One

When youth begin high school, they are invited to choose an adult mentor. Oak Grove coordinates a One-on-one program that gives guidance to adults who are teamed up with youth as well as provides regular opportunities for mentors and mentees to meet together as a group. These adult mentors are encouraged to meet with their youth regularly and develop a caring relationship. The mentor is also privileged to participate in a mentee’s baptism, should that occur during this time.

Church Camps

Oak Grove is affiliated with two church camps: Camp Luz, Kidron, OH, an Ohio Conference sponsored camp and Camp Friedenswald, Cassiopolis, MI, a Central District Conference sponsored camp.

Children and youth are encouraged to attend a week of summer camp. Partial camp scholarships are provided for each person to have one camp experience each year. Applications need to be made to the Education Commission.

Adult Ministries

Mennonite Women

Provides fellowship and spiritual growth for women. The women meet all day on the first Wednesday of each month for fellowship, inspiration, and the knotting of comforters and quilting.

Adult Sunday School

Adult Sunday School groups meet at 9:15 a.m. and are divided into different groups of various ages and interests. There are nine adult classes. Each one serves as a caring support group as well as a group that studies and learns together. Everyone is welcome to join any group.

Prayer Ministries

Prayer Chain

Requests for prayer can be phoned or sent by email to our church office: office@oakgrovemc.org . The prayer chain activates the whole congregation to pray specifically about each request they receive.

Membership Visitation Ministries

If you or one of your family members need special assistance in times of grief or stress, call the church office. Our Spiritual Life Commission oversees a Stephen Ministry-trained Visitation Team to assist you. Our Pastoral staff is available for crisis ministries.
